Jaguar AJ-V6 Petrol Timing Chain Kit

Our Jaguar AJ-V6 petrol timing chain kits are for the AJ20 2.1-litre, AJ25 2.5-litre and AJ30 3.0-litre engines. Three options are available to suit the different timing-chain arrangements. Read the identification details below before choosing your kit.

The original timing chain kit is no longer available from Jaguar. Our kit is currently the only readily available option. Kits advertised for Ford V6 Duratec or Mazda V6 engines will not fit the Jaguar AJ-V6.

Aluminium chain guides are not included. The main image shows the full assembly but you will recieve the listed parts without the aluminium guide bodies.

Identify your timing chain version before ordering

Jaguar VIN data can sometimes be inaccurate when identifying the exact parts required. Several models used the AJ-V6 3.0 petrol engine and the VIN does not always reliably identify the timing-chain generation.

We cannot guarantee the correct kit version from a VIN or UK registration number alone. Remove the timing cover first and compare the components with the reference pictures in this listing. We can help you recognise the correct arrangement using those pictures.

Kit options by production year

These VIN serial references apply to the S-Type. X-Type and other models fitted with the same AJ-V6 engine variants use different serial numbers. Compare the timing components with our pictures before ordering.

• S-Type Gen 1: X200.
• S-Type Gen 2 and Gen 3: X202, X204 and X206.

Jaguar AJ-V6 applications

Jaguar introduced the AJ-V6 in 1999 and it was produced until 2011. Applications include the S-Type, X-Type, XJ X350 and early XF models.

• 2000–2008 Jaguar S-Type: 240 hp / 179 kW / 243 PS; 221 lb⋅ft / 300 N⋅m.
• 2002–2009 Jaguar X-Type: 228 hp / 170 kW / 231 PS; 209 lb⋅ft / 283 N⋅m.
• 2003–2010 Jaguar XJ: 237 hp / 177 kW / 240 PS; 216 lb⋅ft / 293 N⋅m.
• 2008–2011 Jaguar XF: 240 hp / 179 kW / 243 PS; 221 lb⋅ft / 300 N⋅m.
• 2000–2006 Lincoln LS.

Compatible petrol engine variants

• AJ20: 2.1-litre V6 petrol.
• AJ25: 2.5-litre V6 petrol.
• AJ30: 3.0-litre V6 petrol.

Choose the timing-chain generation that matches your engine. The egnine capacity alone does not identify which of the three options you need.

Gen 1 kit contents

• 2 × timing chains.
• 2 × thick tensioners.
• 1 × crankshaft sprocket.
• 2 × PA66 chain slippers: XW4E-6K255-CB / 380266 for 10 mm chain guides.
• 2 × PA66 chain slippers: XW4E-6M256-BB for 10 mm chain guides.

Gen 2 and Gen 3 kit contents

• 2 × timing chains.
• 2 × thin tensioners: 01523.
• 1 × crankshaft sprocket.
• 2 × PA66 chain slippers: XR85175 / XR819504 / C2C8279 for 8 mm chain guides.
• 2 × PA66 chain slippers: SP70-6M261-AC / SP50-6M260-AC / 4E-6C-261-AG for 8 mm chain guides.

Important ordering information

These kits do not fit diesel engines or AJ-V8 engines. Ford V6 Duratec and Mazda V6 timing chain kits are not substitutes for this Jaguar AJ-V6 kit.

The PA66 chain slippers listed above are included. The aluminium chain guides shown in the main image are excluded from the price. They are shown seperately from the supplied slippers as part of the full assembly.
