As you’ve probably found out by now, this Jaguar AJ-V6 petrol timing chain kit is no longer available from Jaguar. At the moment, our AJ-V6 timing chain kit is the only readily available option. You may see “alternatives” online listed for Ford V6 Duratec or Mazda V6 engines but those will NOT fit Jaguar AJ-V6 engines. Ours will fit. Please read the information below before placing your order.

It’s important to note that Jaguar VIN data can sometimes be inaccurate when it comes to identifying the exact part required.

Various models were fitted with the AJ-V6 3.0 petrol engine and the Jaguar VIN does not always reliably indicate the correct AJ-V6 generation. Because of this we cannot give a guaranteed answer on which generation timing chain kit you need based on the VIN alone.

We advise everyone to remove the timing cover first and compare what you see with the reference pictures in our listing. This helps avoid mistakes and ensures you order the correct kit from us.

Jaguar introduced this V6 engine in 1999, and it was produced until 2011.

It was used in Jaguar S-Type, X-Type, XJ (X350), and early versions of the Jaguar XF.

• 2000-2008 Jaguar S-Type, 240 hp (179 kW; 243 PS) and 221 lb⋅ft (300 N⋅m)
• 2002-2009 Jaguar X-Type, 228 hp (170 kW; 231 PS) and 209 lb⋅ft (283 N⋅m)
• 2003-2010 Jaguar XJ, 237 hp (177 kW; 240 PS) and 216 lb⋅ft (293 N⋅m)
• 2008-2011 Jaguar XF 240 hp (179 kW; 243 PS) and 221 lb⋅ft (300 N⋅m)
• 2000-2006 Lincoln LS

Compatible Engine Variants:

These V6 timing chain kits are compatible with the following petrol engines:

• AJ20 2.1L V6 petrol engine
• AJ25 2.5L V6 petrol engine
• AJ30 3.0L V6 petrol engine

It is important to not that the AJV6 engines have 3 variants therefore you will need to opt between 3 options. Jaguar's VIN or UK reg give unsufficient information on which AJV6 timing chain kit you need to opt for but we will try to help you with our pics to recognize the type you need.

Options by production year:

1999-2002   Gen1 (VIN numbers before L76000)
2003-2008   Gen2 (VIN numbers between L76000 to M45254)
2008-2011   Gen3 (VIN numbers from M45255) This generation is fitted with VVT gear adjuster solenoids.

The above VIN serials can be found in S-Type models. X-Type or other models fitted with the same AJV6 engine variant have different serial numbers.

These AJ-V6 timing chain kits WILL NOT FIT diesel engines nor the AJV8 engines!
